What's Wrong with CUGY?
The Computer Users' Group of Yokota (CUGY) is having a gaming tournment on May 14
th. If you're in the area, I do not recommend your participating. While I am not really a member, I frequent (read: mostly lurk) their forums and have had a run in or two with a couple of members when I did contribute. This organization could and should provide the Yokota community with a valuable service. Unfortunately, due to what I feel is an excess of ego and ignorance (particularly amongst their "ranking" members), CUGY is approaching joke status.
I submit the following URL as an example.

Slashdot No More
I've been a member of the "Slashdot community" for quite a long time (my user id is 583). Over the years I have witnessed a steady decline in the quality of discussion. The vitriol has become so scurrilous of late that I have decided I'll no longer visit. Reading the following comments (particularly those with a "5, Insightful" score) will clearly demonstrate this.
Slashdot | U.S. Rejects Canadian Rejection of DMCA
(The comments about balls and Condoleeza Rice are particularly "insightful".)
UPDATE (Tue 03 May 07:36:39 JST 2005): I ran across the
Quit Slashdot.org Today! campaign. The
Top Nine Reasons to Quit Slashdot.org were all excellent, but I particularly liked number 1 (I've had that guy ignored in my /. prefs for years). Check it out.
